Iraq is looking at alternative oil export routes, such as new pipelines and more refining capacity, as geopolitical tensions threaten exports via the Strait of Hormuz, according to a finance advisor to the prime minister. Mudher Mohammed Saleh said that Baghdad is exploring the long-proposed Iraq-Jordan pipeline, which would connect to the Red Sea port of Aqaba, providing Iraq with direct access to global markets beyond the Gulf.
