INDONESIA’S JEWELRY EXPORTS JUMP 65%, REACH US$9.1 BILLION IN 2025

Indonesia’s jewelry industry experienced strong growth in 2025, with exports of jewelry and precious goods reaching USD 9.1 billion—an increase of 65.54 percent compared to the previous year. Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated on March 9, 2026, that this surge reflects rising global demand and highlights Indonesia’s potential to further expand internationally. He emphasized the crucial role of accurate gold purity testing in maintaining product quality and consumer trust. To support this, the government is encouraging participation in the Proficiency Testing Provider (PUP) program, aimed at improving the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of test results across laboratories. The Indonesia's Ministry of Industry, through its agencies, the Industrial Services Standardization and Policy Agency (BSKJI) and  the Center for Standardization and Industrial Services for Crafts and Batik (BBSPJIKB), continues strengthening quality assurance systems, particularly in the gold sector. The PUP program—the first and only proficiency testing initiative for gold in Indonesia—helps laboratories demonstrate compliance with SNI ISO/IEC 17025:2017, evaluate their testing performance, and ensure more accurate results. According to officials Emmy Suryandari and Zya Labiba, the program is open to industry, private institutions, and government bodies, offering objective and transparent comparisons of laboratory performance. These efforts aim to enhance product reliability and reinforce Indonesia’s global competitiveness in the high‑quality jewelry market.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2250660/indonesias-jewelry-exports-jump-65-reach-91-billion-in-2025 (ICE GIACARTA)
