INDONESIAN GOVERNMENT ENHANCES BUSINESS STANDARDIZATION FOR THE TOURISM INDUSTRY
The Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism is prioritizing stronger licensing, standardization, and certification as the backbone for developing high‑quality and sustainable tourism in Indonesia. Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana highlighted this effort during the dissemination of Minister of Tourism Regulation No. 6 of 2025, which outlines business activity standards, supervision procedures, and administrative sanctions within the risk‑based licensing system. The regulation introduces adjustments to changing risk levels and new business categories, offering a single, clear standard for facilities, services, and operational requirements so tourism businesses can function more professionally, transparently, and competitively. The ministry emphasized that successful implementation requires synergy among central and regional governments, associations, certification bodies, and business actors. Despite the importance of certification, only about 2 percent of tourism businesses have undergone the process, prompting the ministry to intensify outreach so stakeholders better understand standard-setting as part of risk mitigation. Overall, the regulation aims to ensure safety, security, and comfort for tourists while creating a consistent and competitive ecosystem for tourism operators.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2257775/government-enhances-business-standardization-for-the-tourism-industry (ICE GIACARTA)
