Indonesia and Japan have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) to strengthen the energy supply chain and advance future energy technologies in the Asia-Pacific region, focusing on critical minerals and nuclear energy. Energy Minister of Indonesia, Bahlil Lahadalia, highlighted Indonesia’s vast reserves of nickel, bauxite, tin, copper, and rare earth metals as strategic resources to support clean energy development and net-zero targets. The partnership aims to build a more integrated, resilient, and sustainable energy system, with Japan bringing its expertise in nuclear technology under strict safety standards. Japanese Economy Minister, Ryosei Akazawa, emphasized the importance of collaboration amid global uncertainty to ensure energy resilience and supply security. The cooperation includes projects like the Legok Nangka Waste Power Plant and discussions on LNG, coal, and nuclear energy under the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) framework. Together, Indonesia and Japan aim to accelerate energy transition projects, strengthen regional energy resilience, and support decarbonization efforts across the Indo-Pacific.Source: https://ekonomi.bisnis.com/read/20260316/44/1960718/indonesia-jepang-teken-kerja-sama-pengembangan-mineral-kritis-dan-energi-nuklir (ICE GIACARTA)
