INDONESIA'S FISHERY EXPORTS REACH US$983 MILLION AS OF MARCH 2026
Indonesia’s Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries reported that fishery exports from early 2026 to mid‑March reached US$983.1 million, with export volumes totaling 197,718 tons before cargo disruptions on March 13. These figures, based on issued health certificates required by 140 partner countries, highlight strong demand for key commodities such as whiteleg shrimp, tuna, squid, blue swimming crab, seaweed, skipjack, crab, tiger prawns, largehead hairtail, and octopus. Major export destinations include the United States, China, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore. However, rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have disrupted global supply chains, causing Indonesia’s export volume to drop by 41.35% and export value by 21.71% compared with the same period last year. Challenges include rerouted shipments, increased logistics costs, and limited container and vessel availability. While demand remains steady, the ministry plans to boost domestic absorption of fishery products and maintain close communication with international partners and local stakeholders to navigate the evolving global situation.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/409054/indonesias-fishery-exports-reach-us983-million-as-of-march-2026 (ICE GIACARTA)
