INDONESIA'S DANANTARA APPOINTS PTPN I TO BUILD A COCONUT & NUTMEG FACTORY

Under the direction of Danantara, PTPN I is spearheading a major downstreaming initiative with the groundbreaking of two significant processing facilities in Central Maluku, Indonesia on March 2, 2026. The project includes a IDR 500 billion integrated coconut factory capable of processing 300,000 coconuts daily into high-value products like MCT and activated charcoal, alongside a IDR 140 billion nutmeg plant focused on export-grade oleoresin. President Prabowo Subianto is expected to attend the ceremony, which coincides with a broader IDR 9.9 trillion government-backed replanting program covering 800,000 hectares for commodities such as coffee, cocoa, and pepper. This strategic shift aims to transform Indonesia into a global agricultural superpower by elevating smallholder plantations, which currently comprise 90% of the sector. By utilizing an operational cooperation (KSO) scheme, PTPN I intends to bridge the gap between local farmers and modern industrial technology without heavy asset investment. The initiative is projected to be a massive economic driver, contributing to a national target of creating 1.6 million new jobs in the downstream plantation sector over the next two years.Source: https://industri.kontan.co.id/news/danantara-tunjuk-ptpn-i-membangun-pabrik-kelapa-dan-pala-rp-640-miliar#google_vignette (ICE GIACARTA)
