INDONESIA'S INDUSTRIAL CONFIDENCE INDEX IN MARCH 2026 REMAINS IN EXPANSION ZONE

Indonesia’s manufacturing sector remained in expansion in March 2026 with an Industrial Confidence Index of 51.86, though growth slowed after February’s demand peak driven by Chinese New Year and Eid al‑Fitr. According to Ministry of Industry Spokesperson Febri Hendri Antoni Arief, seasonal factors, logistics restrictions around the holiday period, and normalization of demand prompted industries to reduce production. Despite these adjustments, key indicators stayed positive: February’s manufacturing PMI hit a nearly two‑year high of 53.8, and January’s manufacturing exports grew 8.19 percent year‑on‑year, contributing over 83 percent to total exports. Of 23 manufacturing subsectors, 16 remained in expansion, with strong performance seen in the printing and motor vehicle industries, while beverage, tobacco, chemical, and electronics experienced contraction due to seasonal trends, weakened purchasing power, and global supply disruptions. External geopolitical tensions in the Middle East posed potential risks but had limited impact in March. The Ministry emphasized ongoing efforts to strengthen industrial structures, boost capacity utilization, expand non‑traditional export markets, and ensure energy and raw material diversification, maintaining optimism about the sector’s fundamentals and its role in driving national economic growth.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2303256/industrial-confidence-index-in-march-2026-remains-in-expansion-zone-at-5186  (ICE GIACARTA)
