KAZAKHSTAN-AIRLINES-FUEL-CONTRACTS

Cargo carriers Fly Khiva Cargo, ULS Airlines Cargo and CAMEX Airlines to refuel in KazakhstanKazakh state-owned oil company KazMunayGas has signed refueling agreements with three foreign cargo airlines, securing into-wing fueling services as Kazakhstan seeks to position its airports as strategic transit hubs."KazMunayGas-Aero, the company's fueling subsidiary, signed into-wing refueling contracts with Uzbek aviation group Fly Khiva Cargo, Turkish carrier ULS Airlines Cargo and Georgia's CAMEX Airlines," KazMunayGas said Wednesday.KMG noted that the airlines are increasing cargo volumes and view Kazakh airports as a strategic link between European and Asian markets."Kazakhstan's airports remain attractive due to aviation fuel prices, among the lowest in the region, which directly improves flight economics," KazMunayGas said in a statement. "For the cargo aviation sector, this means significantly shorter delivery times, flexible route planning and minimized operational costs."The partners operate modern fleets: ULS Airlines Cargo flies Airbus A310-300F and A330-300P2F aircraft, CAMEX Airlines uses Boeing 737-800BCF and 767-300BCF planes, and Fly Khiva Cargo operates Boeing 767-300 BCF and F models.Kazakhstan lowered aviation fuel prices to $940 per tonne early this year from $1,200, with plans to reduce them further to $890, as part of efforts to develop its aviation hubs.President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said Jan. 20 that fuel prices were too high and uncompetitive compared with neighboring countries.KazMunayGas-Aero already has direct refueling contracts with major international carriers, including Turkish Airlines, Turkish Cargo, FlyDubai, Red Sea, Air Cairo, Somon Air, FlyMeta and Silk Way West Airlines.Officials expect that a unified, lower fuel price will attract additional major airlines such as Lufthansa, Emirates, Qatar Airways and Air China, along with leading global cargo operators.
