KazMunayGas and Croatia’s Geoenergija Razvoj sign 50/50 contract for Shygys oil projectKazakhstan’s Energy Ministry, KazMunayGas (KMG) and Croatia’s Geoenergija Razvoj d.o.o. have signed a contract for hydrocarbon exploration and production at the Shygys block in the Aktobe region, the ministry’s press service said.The contract was signed in Astana during the Geoscience & Exploration Central Asia international geological forum.The Shygys project will be implemented on a 50/50 basis, with the Croatian side fully financing the exploration phase, according to the statement.The planned work scope includes 500 km of 2D seismic surveys and the drilling of one exploration well to a depth of 3,500 meters.KMG said the project marks a new stage in cooperation between Kazakhstan and Croatia, adding that the Croatian company is entering Kazakhstan’s upstream sector for the first time.The Shygys license block covers 2,415 square kilometers and is located in the Temir, Bayganin and Mugalzhar districts of the Aktobe region.KazMunayGas is Kazakhstan’s national oil and gas company, representing state interests in exploration, production, refining and transportation.Geoenergija Razvoj d.o.o. is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency.
