KAZAKHSTAN-AZERBAIJAN-CASPIAN-DREDGING

Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan form joint venture for Caspian Sea port dredgingState-owned companies from Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have signed an agreement to create a joint venture for dredging operations in the two countries' ports, Azerbaijani Digital Development and Transport Minister Rashad Nabiyev said Thursday.Nabiyev wrote on X that Azerbaijan's Transport and Communications Holding (AZCON) and Samruk-Kazyna Invest, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan's sovereign wealth fund Samruk-Kazyna, signed a shareholder agreement to acquire a dredging vessel and establish the joint venture.Nabiyev was commenting after a meeting in Baku with Nurlan Zhakupov, chairman of Samruk-Kazyna."During the meeting, the two officials discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in transport and logistics, as well as the goals of the joint dredging project," according to Nabiyev's post.AZCON was created by a 2024 presidential decree of Ilham Aliyev. The holding manages state enterprises including the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Co., Azerbaijan Railways, Baku Shipyard, Azerbaijan Airlines and Aztelekom.Samruk-Kazyna manages Kazakhstan's largest strategic companies, including Air Astana, Kazakhtelecom, Kazatomprom, KazMunayGas and KEGOC.
