IN MARCH 2026, EXPECTATIONS FOR BUSINESS ACTIVITY IMPROVED SIGNIFICANTLY.
The Business Activity Expectations Index (BACE) reached 52.7 in March, up from 45.9 in February (and 51.8 in March 2025). For the first time since May 2025, business assessments across all surveyed sectors were optimistic. This positive shift was driven by several factors: easing of tensions in the energy sector, a rebound in consumer demand, receipt of international financial aid, stabilization of the foreign exchange market, and seasonal influences. However, increased shelling of critical infrastructure, rising inflation expectations, and a shortage of skilled workers limited positive outlooks. Trade businesses rated their current performance positively, citing ample supply and slowing inflation, with the sector index rising from 45 to 54. Construction sector ratings were the highest among all sectors, reaching 55 from 46.6, supported by favorable weather and road rehabilitation needs. For the first time in nine months, industrial companies expressed positive views on their current activities, with the index climbing from 46.9 to 51.2, thanks to the energy situation stabilizing and rising consumer demand. Service sector firms also gave their first positive assessment in ten months, with the index increasing from 10 to 52.8, driven by a stabilized energy system and revived domestic demand.https://ubn.news/in-march-2026-expectations-for-business-activity-improved-significantly/ (ICE KIEV)
