ESTONIA PROPOSES GREEN MARITIME COLLABORATION WITH INDONESIA
The Estonian government and Baltic maritime companies, led by Deputy Minister Kristjan Truu, have proposed a strategic partnership with Indonesia to accelerate the green transition in the maritime sector. Highlighting the 2025 IMO net-zero framework and the EU’s Clean Industrial Deal, Estonia offers expertise in "green shipping corridors" and shore power technology. Companies like ShoreLink emphasize that electrification is essential for future competitiveness and emission reduction, especially as global fuel prices rise. Estonian officials plan to visit Indonesia to explore co-investment opportunities and share experiences in implementing solar and electric-powered port infrastructure to achieve near-zero maritime emissions.
