QazaqGaz sees no equipment supply risk for Kashagan gas plantAll major equipment needed to build the first gas processing plant at Kazakhstan's Kashagan field has already arrived at the construction site, and there are no risks of delivery disruptions for remaining orders, national gas company QazaqGaz said Wednesday.The company said in response to a query from Interfax-Kazakhstan that "additional equipment orders for certain facilities have been placed and are expected to arrive on schedule.""No risks related to the current situation in the Middle East are anticipated, as equipment suppliers are not tied to that region," QazaqGaz added.The company is building the first gas processing plant at Kashagan with an annual capacity of 1 billion cubic meters. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2026.The project was originally expected to be finished in 2025, and later the deadline was pushed to mid-2026.In January 2025, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev called the pace of construction at the Kashagan plant and another facility in Zhanaozen "unsatisfactory" and ordered that both projects be completed by their revised deadlines.The Kashagan plant will help supply natural gas to regions of Kazakhstan.A second gas processing plant at Kashagan with capacity of 2.5 billion cubic meters per year is in the basic engineering phase. QazaqGaz plans to build that facility together with Qatar's UCC Holding.Kashagan is an offshore oil and gas field in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea and the largest international investment project in the country. Recoverable reserves are estimated at 9 billion to 13 billion barrels of oil. Commercial production began on Nov. 1, 2016.QazaqGaz is Kazakhstan's national operator of gas transmission and distribution networks, handling international transit and domestic and foreign gas sales.
