Kazakhstan planning to launch 3 remote sensing satellites in 2027, to form group of 6 satellites by 2030Kazakhstan is planning to launch three remote sensing satellites in 2027 and to increase the group to six satellites by 2030, Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary Board Chairman Kaiyrzhan Kozhayev said."Three satellites are scheduled to be launched in 2027. Their integration is being worked on, and all systems have been procured. Sub-systems are being checked and reflashed. The trials will begin in the middle of this year," Kozhayev said at a virtual meeting marking the Cosmonautics Day on Friday. The new satellites will replace vehicles in operation, which were designed earlier together with European partners, Kozhayev said. A SpaceX rocket will carry out the launch due to contract limitations on using certain European component parts, he said."We are planning to launch three satellites 2029-2030 in order to form a six-vehicle group," he said.It is also planned to increase image resolution to 0.5 meters. Kazakhstan hopes to launch the satellites from Baikonur.Five Kazakh satellites, including three remote sensing and two communication satellites, are currently in orbit. KazEOSat-2 is being deorbited consistent with international space debris reduction regulations. The first remote sensing satellites were launched in 2014 and continue their operation after the warranty period, Kozhayev said.As reported, Kazakhstan is planning to launch the KazEOSat-MR medium-resolution remote sensing satellite in 2027 to replace KazEOSat-2.Kazakh specialists are creating the KazEOSat-MR group at an experimental satellite assembly and testing facility in Astana.
