Eurasian Development Bank invested $5.2 bln in Kazakhstan in 2022-2026President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received CEO of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) Nikolay Podguzov, discussing with him the results of two decades of the development institution's work and the prospects for further expanding investment cooperation, the presidential press service reported.Podguzov presented Tokayev with the EDB's forecasts, according to which Kazakhstan's GDP growth in 2026 will be no less than 5.5%. "This is facilitated by sustained investment activity, large-scale infrastructure programs, stable domestic demand, and robust social indicators," the press release following the meeting stated.The President was informed that during the implementation of the EDB's strategy for 2022-2026, the total volume of investments reached $9.2 billion. $5.2 billion was invested in Kazakhstan's economy — an amount comparable to the bank's investment volume over the previous 15 years.Approximately $2.1 billion was directed toward industrial development, $1 billion into energy, $1 billion into transport infrastructure, and $1.1 billion into the financial sector. Special attention is being paid to supporting digitalization and the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies."Tokayev noted the significant expansion of the bank's geographic presence. In his opinion, this facilitates the implementation of new initiatives and strengthens regional economic integration. The meeting concluded with a confirmation of mutual interest in further strengthening strategic partnership and investment cooperation for the sustainable development of Kazakhstan's economy," the press release noted.The head of state congratulated the EDB on the occasion of a notable milestone — the 20th anniversary of its founding. He emphasized that the Eurasian Development Bank is one of Kazakhstan's key partners in implementing strategically significant projects.The EDB is an international development bank with an authorized capital of $7 billion. The bank's shareholders are Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. (ICE ALMATY)
