INDONESIA’S SOLAR PANEL DEMAND SURGES TO 200 MW

Indonesia’s rooftop solar power plant (PLTS) business is projected to grow strongly through 2026, driven by rising demand from both industrial and residential markets. According to the Indonesian Solar Energy Association (AESI), market awareness of alternative energy is increasing, with industrial demand already exceeding government quotas. Despite an additional 484 MW quota set for 2026, there remains a waiting list of 200 MW, signaling robust demand. AESI General Chairman, Mada Ayu Habsari, noted that growth is fueled not only by climate concerns but also by global geopolitical uncertainties, which push communities toward energy independence. With government support, including renewable energy targets and President Prabowo’s 100 GW program plan, the PLTS sector is expected to shine even brighter. As of June 2025, Indonesia’s total installed PLTS capacity reached 1,142.69 MW, reflecting steady progress in renewable energy adoption.Source: https://industri.kontan.co.id/news/permintaan-panel-surya-melonjak-aesi-sebut-antrean-di-sektor-industri-capai-200-mw (ICE GIACARTA)
