INBOUND CONTAINERS AT AQABA RISE 4.5% IN MARCH DESPITE REGIONAL TENSIONS — ACC
The Kingdom’s industrial production declined by 0.5 per cent in the first two months of 2026, compared with the same period in 2025, according to data released by the Department of Statistics (DoS).On a monthly basis, the industrial production index fell by 0.72 per cent in February 2026 compared with February 2025, and by 2.19 per cent compared with January 2026.The index, with a base year of 2018=100, stood at 87.58 points during January–February 2026, compared with 87.62 points in the corresponding period of 2025. In February alone, it reached 86.61 points, down from 87.24 in February 2025 and 88.55 in January 2026.At the sectoral level, cumulative data for the first two months showed a 0.26 per cent decline in manufacturing industries, which account for 88.7 per cent of the index weight, and a 0.41 per cent decrease in electricity production, which carries a 5.9 per cent weight.In contrast, extractive industries rose by 4.79 per cent, with a relative weight of 5.4 per cent, partially offsetting declines in other sectors.
