EV BIKE MAKERS URGE INCENTIVES TO BOOST INDONESIA SALES TO 100K
Indonesia’s electric motorcycle industry is calling on the government to reinstate consumer purchase subsidies to boost sales and support the national electrification agenda. The Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Industry Association (Aismoli) has set a conservative sales target of 70,000 units for this year, up from about 61,000 units last year, but believes sales could reach 100,000 units if incentives are revived. Aismoli's chairman, Budi Setyadi, pointed to 2024, when subsidies of Rp7 million per unit helped push sales to 77,000 units, showing strong latent demand for electric motorcycles. Budi emphasized that any reinstated subsidies should be implemented quickly to avoid policy uncertainty. The industry sees electric motorcycles as an increasingly practical option for daily transport and urges decisive government action. Supporting this push, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the government is drafting regulations to gradually reduce gasoline motorcycle sales while accelerating domestic electric motorcycle production. While conventional motorcycle manufacturing will continue, future output is expected to be redirected mainly toward export markets such as Africa, the Middle East, and South America.Source: https://jakartaglobe.id/business/ev-bike-makers-urge-incentives-to-boost-indonesia-sales-to-100k#goog_rewarded (ICE GIACARTA)
