Finance Minister Mohamed Yisr Barnieh discussed with Abdulaziz Al Mulla, Executive Director representing the Arab Group at the World Bank, preparations for Syria’s return to the Arab Group next October, as well as the importance of strengthening the presence of Syrian professionals within the World Bank to support the country’s representation and participation in its activities.  The Ministry of Finance said in a statement on Wednesday that the meeting, held on the sidelines of Syria’s participation in the IMF–World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, addressed ongoing programs between Syria and the World Bank and the role of the Arab Group’s office in supporting these activities and keeping pace with the requirements of the coming phase.  Earlier in the day, Minister Barnieh chaired the technical roundtable meeting of the Friends of Syria Group to discuss priorities for recovery and reconstruction.
