Kazakhstan, Turkiye boost agricultural trade by 25% in 2025Agricultural trade between Kazakhstan and Turkiye rose by more than 25% in 2025 to about $360 million, the Kazakh government’s press service said, citing Deputy Agriculture Minister Yermek Kenzhekhanuly.Grains and pulses account for the bulk of Kazakhstan’s exports to Turkiye, Kenzhekhanuly said. In 2025, pulse exports totaled 395,000 tonnes, and Kazakhstan plans to increase shipments.“As part of crop diversification, we are expanding the area sown with pulses. In talks with the Turkish side, we expressed readiness to increase and broaden supplies. Overall, there is strong interest from Turkish partners,” he said.The Agriculture Ministry also pointed to export potential for livestock products, adding that Kazakhstan is working to launch beef exports to Turkiye.Talking about investment cooperation, Kenzhekhanuly said Kazakhstan and Turkiye have implemented around 10 projects worth about $400 million in agricultural processing and confectionery production in recent years.“Currently, we are working on five major investment projects worth a total of $2 billion. These include a greenhouse complex by Alarko Holding in Shymkent covering 500 hectares. The first phase has already been launched, and the second phase is now under way,” he said.He also cited other major projects by Turkish companies, including Tiryaki Agro’s construction of a grain deep-processing plant in Astana with annual capacity of 250,000 tonnes, and Iskefe Holding’s project in Almaty to process animal hides and produce gelatin with annual capacity of up to 7,000 tonnes.The deputy minister added that the sides are continuing talks on new initiatives, including plans to build a sugar plant with the participation of a Turkish company.
