International financial institutions to fund $1.36 bln Karaganda-Zhezkazgan road projectA financing agreement for the Karaganda-Zhezkazgan highway construction project was signed in Washington at World Bank headquarters, the Kazakh government's press service said.The agreement was signed by Kazakhstan’s National Company KazAvtoZhol JSC, International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).The project, valued at approximately 650 billion tenge, aims at the construction of a 457-kilometer highway.Competitive bidding procedures are currently in their final stages. Design and construction work is scheduled to begin this year.National Company KazAvtoZhol JSC is the national operator of Kazakhstan’s highways. (ICE ALMATY)
