INDONESIA EYES 3.67 PERCENT NATIONAL GDP BOOST THROUGH AI ADOPTION

Indonesia's Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid emphasized that artificial intelligence (AI) could boost Indonesia’s GDP by up to 3.67%, underscoring that competitiveness now depends on technological adaptation rather than natural resources. She highlighted Indonesia’s strong digital transformation capacity, ranking 41st globally, and noted that the financial and retail sectors are already advanced in AI adoption. However, she stressed the need to accelerate AI integration in health, agriculture, and manufacturing to maximize impact. She also pointed to the urgency of AI governance, stating that regulation is essential to manage risks. The government has finalized a presidential regulation on the national AI roadmap and ethics, awaiting ratification, which will guide adoption while ensuring public protection. Hafid added that inclusive AI adoption, particularly among micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), is crucial to ensure that the benefits of digital transformation are widely shared across Indonesia.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/412820/indonesia-eyes-367-percent-national-gdp-boost-through-ai-adoption (ICE GIACARTA)
