KazMunayGas builds exploration portfolio with resource potential of up to 65 bln tonnes of oil equivalentKazakhstan’s national oil and gas company KazMunayGas has formed a portfolio of 23 exploration projects with total prospective resources of up to 65 billion tonnes of oil equivalent, the company’s press service said.The portfolio includes projects at various stages of maturity and has been formed based on regional geological studies and the analysis of geological and geophysical data.“Advancing exploration into new areas and deeper horizons is an objectively necessary stage in the development of the resource base,” the company said.Under its exploration program for 2026–2030, KazMunayGas plans to acquire 6,250 km of 2D seismic data and 2,540 sq km of 3D seismic data, conduct geochemical surveys at 22,000 sampling points, and drill 26 exploration wells.The program also provides for large-scale regional 2D seismic acquisition covering 60,000 km to study subsalt formations in the Caspian Basin.KMG said the program is aimed at replenishing the resource base amid natural decline at mature fields and ensuring the country’s energy security.National Company KazMunayGas JSC is the national operator for exploration, production, processing and transportation of hydrocarbons.
