Kazakhstan plans to extend ban on gasoline, diesel exportsKazakhstan's Energy Ministry plans to extend a temporary ban on gasoline, diesel and certain petroleum product exports, the ministry said Friday."According to a draft order, the ban on petroleum product exports by road transport, including to member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, would be extended from May 21, 2026, through Nov. 21, 2026," the ministry said in a statement. At the same time, restrictions on the export of light distillates by rail will remain in place.Separately, from July 1, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2026, "an additional ban would be extended on exports outside the EAEC customs territory of light distillates, jet kerosene, diesel fuel, gas oils, toluene, xylene and petroleum bitumen," the ministry said."The measures are aimed at ensuring Kazakhstan's energy security and the stability of the domestic petroleum products market," the ministry said.The ban on gasoline, diesel and certain petroleum products by road and rail has been in effect since Nov. 20, 2025, for six months, through May 20, 2026. The measure applies to supplies to EAEC countries as well and is intended to prevent fuel shortages on the domestic market. (ICE ALMATY)
