In Ukraine, the Business Expectations Index (BEI) in the first quarter of 2026 increased to 105.8%, compared with 102.1% in the fourth quarter of 2025, the NBU reported. Surveyed entrepreneurs improved their assessments of all components of the index, most notably investment expenditures on machinery, equipment, inventory, and construction work, as well as the total sales of their products. Enterprises in 10 surveyed regions and most types of activity expected a revival of business activity.Military actions and their consequences remain the dominant factor limiting enterprises’ ability to increase production volumes. The shortage of qualified workers also continues to have a significant impact. More than other factors, the impact of soaring energy prices was expected to increase. Businesses have improved their estimates of the volume of production of goods and services in Ukraine over the next 12 months and predicts inflation at 11.1%. Entrepreneurs also provided forecasts for the hryvnia-USD exchange rate and, for the first time, to the hryvnia-euro: They expect an exchange rate of ₴45.00 for $1 and ₴54.00 for €1.https://ubn.news/ukrainian-business-expects-a-revival-of-business-activity-growth-in-production-volumes-and-development-in-the-first-quarter/ (ICE KIEV)
