INDONESIA ANNOUNCES 5 TCF GAS DISCOVERY IN EAST KALIMANTAN BY ENI

Indonesia has announced a major natural gas discovery in the Geliga Block offshore East Kalimantan, estimated at 5 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of gas and about 300 million barrels of oil‑equivalent condensate. The discovery was made by Eni through the Geliga‑1 well in deepwater areas of the Kutai Basin, reinforcing the company’s strong exploration track record in the region. Combined with Eni’s earlier 2 TCF find in the nearby Gula Block, total potential reserves from the two assets reach around 7 TCF, marking one of Indonesia’s most significant recent energy finds. Indonesia's Energy Minister, Bahlil Lahadalia, said the discovery is strategically important for strengthening Indonesia’s long‑term energy security and reducing reliance on imports. Gas production is expected to rise sharply from current levels of 600–700 MMSCFD to 2,000 MMSCFD by 2028 and 3,000 MMSCFD by 2030, while condensate production could reach up to 150,000 barrels per day by 2029–2030. The government plans to prioritize the new supply for domestic use and downstream industrial development to support national energy self‑sufficiency.Source: https://jakartaglobe.id/business/indonesia-announces-5-tcf-gas-discovery-in-east-kalimantan  (ICE GIACARTA)
