Chinese Snow Valley to invest up to $20 mln in Kazakhstan potato processing plantSnow Valley Agricultural Group Co. Ltd, a Chinese agricultural company, plans to invest up to $200 million in a potato processing project in northern Kazakhstan, regional officials said Tuesday.The memorandum signed between the company and the governor of Pavlodar region, Asain Baikhanov, envisions the construction of a modern deep potato processing complex with an annual capacity of 100,000 to 200,000 tonnes.The project includes the creation of a potato breeding and research center, a facility producing french fries and other rotational crop products, as well as storage, logistics and distribution infrastructure.Total investment is estimated between $100 million and $200 million.Snow Valley is a high-tech agricultural holding founded in 2007 in Zhangjiakou, China. The company operates processing parks, virus-free seed potato bases and a logistics network. Its annual processing volume exceeds 800,000 tonnes of raw materials, of which more than 400,000 tonnes are frozen products. Snow Valley exports to more than 40 countries worldwide. (ICE ALMATY)
