DPIIT ROLLS OUT MULTI-SECTORAL REGULATORY RELAXATIONS TO BOLSTER INDUSTRIAL SUPPLY CHAINS
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has introduced a series of multi-sectoral regulatory relaxations aimed at strengthening industrial supply chains and ensuring uninterrupted production across key sectors. These measures include accelerated approvals, customs duty relief and targeted policy interventions to ease operational bottlenecks. Notably, the government has fast-tracked approvals for gas infrastructure, processing 467 applications for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Compressed Biogas (CBG) stations since late March, with turnaround times reduced to under 10 days. This has resulted in 157 final licences and 38 prior approvals, enhancing fuel availability and supporting logistics continuity. Additionally, temporary storage relaxations for kerosene and a ban on ammonium nitrate exports have been implemented to secure domestic supply chains. The reforms extend to manufacturing and allied industries, with advisory relaxations under the Boilers Act granting three-month certificate extensions for high-capacity boilers in power plants, refineries and fertiliser units. DPIIT has also extended Quality Control Order (QCO) timelines for induction cooktops to support manufacturers facing supply disruptions. Policy measures include reduction of Basic Customs Duty (BCD) to zero on key raw materials such as EVA and polymers for sectors like footwear and leather, while similar duty relaxations have been extended to chemicals used in the tyre industry. Further, the allocation of industrial LPG for the paint sector has been increased to 70% of pre-March consumption levels and gas supply for the glass industry has been stabilised at 80% of average consumption to ensure uninterrupted furnace operations. Collectively, these interventions are designed to enhance resilience, maintain production momentum and improve ease of doing business.Disclaimer: This information has been collected through secondary research and IBEF is not responsible for any errors in the same.https://www.ibef.org/news/dpiit-rolls-out-multi-sectoral-regulatory-relaxations-to-bolster-industrial-supply-chains (ICE MUMBAI)
