Chinese investment in Indonesia reached $2.2 billion in Q1 2026, a 22% year-on-year increase that significantly outpaced the overall 8.5% rise in total foreign direct investment. China remains Indonesia's third-largest investor, following Singapore and Hong Kong. Notably, nearly half of this capital, approximately $1.02 billion, was directed into Indonesia's strategic downstream (hilirisasi) industries. Investment Minister Rosan Perkasa Roeslani recently visited China to explore new opportunities in renewable energy, EV batteries, and electric two-wheelers, while strengthening policy synergy with China’s National Development and Reform Commission.
