INDONESIA OFFERS 116 NEW OIL AND GAS BLOCKS TO GLOBAL INVESTORS

Indonesia’s Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry is offering 116 new oil and gas blocks to global investors as part of efforts to meet the 2026 production target of 610,000 barrels per day. Director General Laode Sulaeman highlighted the significance of the Geliga Well discovery in East Kalimantan’s Ganal Block, which holds an estimated 5 TCF of gas and 300 million barrels of condensate. He emphasized that this discovery is crucial for achieving national targets while maintaining energy sovereignty amid global geopolitical tensions. The government has also implemented mitigation measures following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, diversifying energy imports, boosting domestic and biofuel supplies, improving refinery performance, and strengthening bilateral cooperation. To attract investors, the ministry has introduced regulatory reforms, including flexible contract schemes (Gross Split or Cost Recovery), fiscal improvements tailored to field risks, project-based incentives, and accelerated licensing under Government Regulation No. 28 of 2025. Laode stressed that Indonesia offers not only abundant resources but also concrete opportunities, with reforms designed to ensure faster and more certain investment processes. He invited global investors to take part in shaping the next chapter of Indonesia’s upstream oil and gas sector.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/413576/indonesia-offers-116-new-oil-and-gas-blocks-to-global-investors?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=desktop&utm_campaign=top_news (ICE GIACARTA)
