LAUNCH OF THE NORTH BALQA WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT PROJECT AT A COST OF €75 MI
The French Ambassador and a representative of the World Bank, accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Water and Irrigation and others, conducted a site visit to the North Balqa Wastewater Treatment Plant—one of the most significant water sector projects in the Kingdom. The project is financed with a total of €75 million, including a €60 million loan from the French Development Agency and a €15 million grant from the European Union. It aims to construct a modern treatment plant with a capacity of 54,000 cubic meters per day, replacing the aging Baqaa facility. Once completed, the plant will serve approximately 622,000 residents across 60 communities in Balqa Governorate, including the Ain Al-Basha district. The project is expected to improve environmental conditions and enhance the quality and efficiency of sanitation services in the area. (ICE AMMAN)
