INDONESIA REMOVES LPG IMPORT DUTY TO SUPPORT PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRY

The Indonesian government has reduced the import duty on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) from 5% to 0% to support the petrochemical industry. This policy aims to mitigate feedstock shortages caused by the ongoing conflict in the Strait of Hormuz, which has severely restricted naphtha supplies. By allowing petrochemical plants to use LPG as an alternative feedstock, the government intends to ensure the continued production of essential materials, such as plastic raw materials. This short-term measure will remain in effect for six months, pending final regulations from the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Finance. Similar strategies have been adopted by countries like India to stabilize plastic packaging costs and prevent inflationary pressure on food and beverages.Source: https://www.antaranews.com/berita/5545395/pemerintah-bebaskan-bea-masuk-impor-lpg (ICE GIACARTA)
