Batumi port handles 1.8 mln tonnes of cargo in Q1 or 2% above targetGeorgia-based Batumi Sea Port LLC, owned by Kazakhstan’s national pipeline operator KazTransOil, handled 1.813 million tonnes of cargo in the 1st quarter of 2026, which is 2% above the target, the company said.In the cargo mix, dry cargo throughput totaled 431,000 tonnes (3% above the target), container cargo 1.049 million tonnes (40% above the target), ferry cargo 105,000 tonnes (66% above the target), and oil cargo 227,000 tonnes.“The first-quarter results reflect steady growth in operating performance, which directly contributes to higher tax revenues and strengthens the asset’s financial stability,” the company said.According to the company, increased activity boosted tax payments: during the reporting period, the Batumi Sea Port transferred 965,000 lari (approximately $357,000) to the budget.Batumi Sea Port is a multipurpose port on the Black Sea. It is managed via the Batumi Oil Terminal, which has been under the control of KazTransOil (part of KazMunayGas) since 2008 and handles the transshipment of Kazakh cargo to external markets.KazTransOil is the national oil pipeline operator and part of KazMunayGas. It operates a pipeline network of about 5,200 km and provides operator services for pipelines owned by third parties totaling more than 5,000 km. (ICE ALMATY)
