A German-Syrian economic forum opened in Berlin on Wednesday, bringing together government officials and business leaders to explore trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.  Syria’s Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal al-Shaar, Central Bank Governor Abdulkader Husrieh and Syria’s chargé d’affaires in Berlin Mohammad Baraa Shukri attended the event.  The forum is being organized jointly by the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce and the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with participation from German officials as well as Syrian and German traders and business representatives.  Participants are discussing prospects for expanding economic cooperation, strengthening private-sector partnerships and identifying opportunities to develop trade ties between Syria and Germany.
