According to the latest statistics released by the Port of Beirut (PoB), the quantity of goods increased by 7.6% year-on-year, reaching 504.1 thousand tons in January 2026, up from 468.5 thousand tons in January 2025. Concurrently, the number of containers saw a yearly increase of 41.5%, totaling 64,617 containers in January 2026. On the other hand, the number of ships decreased over the period, reaching 98 ships in January 2026, showing a year-on-year contraction of 18.3%. Transshipments at PoB recorded 26,484 containers in January 2026, showing a year-on-year increase of 39.6% during the period. Looking at the recovery rate in the quantity of goods imported through PoB during January 2026 against the same month in 2019, a rate of 86.7% is noted. This recovery rate is 6.1 percentage points higher than the one noted in 2025, as per data from PoB. (ICE BEIRUT)
