INDONESIA:13 OIL AND GAS WELLS DISCOVERED IN EAST KALIMANTAN TRANSMIGRATION AREA
Indonesia has identified 13 oil and gas wells in the transmigration area of Samboja, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan, following exploration across 79 existing wells. According to SKK Migas chairman Djoko Siswanto, the newly discovered reserves are estimated at around 1 million barrels of oil and 11.64 billion cubic feet of gas, marking a potentially significant addition to the region’s energy resources. The discovery is expected to open new economic opportunities for the area, which has long been part of Indonesia’s transmigration program aimed at supporting livelihoods through agriculture. Government officials highlighted that oil and gas development could attract investment, create jobs, and spur small business growth, while Pertamina Hulu Indonesia estimates the wells could generate at least Rp 2.5 trillion in revenue. Drilling is expected to begin soon as part of efforts to accelerate development and optimize transmigration land for energy production.Source: https://jakartaglobe.id/business/13-oil-and-gas-wells-discovered-in-east-kalimantan-transmigration-area (ICE GIACARTA)
