The Riau Islands (Kepri) economy grew by 7.04% (y-on-y) in Q1-2026, marking the highest growth rate across Sumatra. Despite a seasonal 3.54% contraction (q-to-q), the province contributed 7.30% to Sumatra's total GDP.To reach the national 8% growth target, Governor Ansar Ahmad is pushing for Rp86 trillion in investments. Key projects include expanding Special Economic Zones (KEK) in Batam, petrochemical and steel industries in Bintan, and the Thiansan National Strategic Project in Lingga. Additionally, large-scale seaweed industries in Lingga and Anambas are being developed to ensure equitable economic distribution and local job creation.Source: https://www.antaranews.com/berita/5555296/bps-perekonomian-kepri-triwulan-i-2026-tumbuh-704-persen?page=all (ICE GIACARTA)
