LEBANON'S LEAP PLAN WANTS 10% OF GDP FROM AI BY 2035

Lebanon’s Minister for Artificial Intelligence launched a five-year strategy (LEAP) aimed at positioning the country as a regional AI hub and increasing the sector’s contribution to the economy.  The roadmap is structured across four phases; Launch, Enact, Advance and Promote, starting with pilot AI programs in key ministries, with a long-term goal of achieving a tech-enabled economy and strengthening Lebanon’s AI talent base.  The plan targets top-50 global AI readiness, US$ 500 million in investment, and a doubling of the AI workforce, alongside ambitions for AI to contribute around 10% of GDP by 2035. Initial funding will support digital infrastructure, AI deployment and public sector digitization, despite ongoing challenges related to infrastructure and regulatory frameworks. (ICE BEIRUT)
