SYRIA’S ENERGY MINISTRY SIGNS MOU WITH GOAL TO BOOST WATER, SANITATION PROJECTS
The Ministry of Energy signed a memorandum of understanding with international humanitarian organization GOAL to support water and sanitation projects and advance sustainable recovery efforts in Syria. The ministry said in a statement on Telegram that the agreement focuses on supporting joint initiatives to improve services and infrastructure, particularly in water supply and sanitation. Planned projects include upgrading water infrastructure, supplying pumping stations with solar power, monitoring groundwater levels and improving wastewater treatment services. The memorandum also aims to support sustainable recovery through programs aligned with national priorities, while strengthening operational and maintenance capacities within the ministry and its affiliated institutions. The agreement was signed in Damascus by Taher al-Omar, director of the General Establishment for Drinking Water and Sanitation, and GOAL’s Syria Country Director, Tamer Kirolos. GOAL is an international humanitarian organization founded in 1977 and operating in Syria since 2012, contributing to projects aimed at improving living conditions and supporting stability in affected communities.
