DAMASCUS UNIVERSITY DIGITAL REPOSITORY LISTED IN GLOBAL OPENDOAR DIRECTORY

The Damascus University digital repository has been officially listed in the global OpenDOAR directory, becoming the first Syrian digital archive to join the international platform.  The inclusion is expected to significantly bolster the university’s presence within the international academic community and increase global accessibility to its scientific and intellectual output. In a statement on Monday, Damascus University announced that the repository is also preparing to adopt the Creative Commons (CC) license. This strategic step aims to support the open exchange of knowledge while continuing comprehensive digital archiving to provide reliable academic content for researchers worldwide.  Established as an integrated knowledge platform, the Damascus University digital repository serves as a centralized hub for preserving the university’s scientific and academic production. The archive contains a vast range of scholarly work, including master’s and doctoral theses, undergraduate textbooks, and publications issued by the University Library.  The platform provides faculty members, students, and independent researchers with streamlined access to academic resources, supporting the momentum of scientific research and solidifying the university’s digital footprint.  OpenDOAR, launched in 2005, is a comprehensive global directory of academic open-access repositories. It serves as a primary tool for researchers seeking peer-reviewed studies and scientific archives that are available free of charge across the globe. (ICE BEIRUT)
