INDONESIA EYES ROLE IN GLOBAL AI INDUSTRY SUPPLY CHAIN

Indonesia has the potential to enter the global artificial intelligence (AI) industry supply chain by leveraging its abundant natural and human resources, according to Deputy Communication and Digital Affairs Minister Nezar Patria. He highlighted Indonesia’s position as the world’s largest tin producer and its reserves of silica sand, both key raw materials for semiconductor and chip manufacturing. However, Patria noted that Indonesia currently remains a raw material supplier and must strengthen its processing and downstream capabilities to meet industry requirements and move up the value chain. Beyond raw materials, Indonesia also holds advantages in energy availability—particularly renewable energy—and has surplus electricity capacity suitable for supporting data centers critical to AI development. Coupled with a large and relatively young population, Indonesia has significant human capital potential. To harness this, the government has launched the AI Talent Factory program to develop skilled professionals capable of delivering AI solutions. With the right strategy and investments, Patria said Indonesia could position itself as an important player in the global AI supply chain.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/414887/indonesia-eyes-role-in-global-ai-industry-supply-chain (ICE GIACARTA)
