INDONESIA, AIRBUS DEEPEN AEROSPACE PARTNERSHIP TO BOOST REGIONAL MANUFACTURING

Indonesia’s Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas) and Airbus have signed a Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) to accelerate Indonesia’s aerospace industry and embed the country deeper into the global supply chain. The agreement, witnessed by Minister Rachmat Pambudy and Airbus Asia Pacific President Anand Stanley, emphasizes building a comprehensive industrial ecosystem beyond aircraft purchases. It highlights ambitions for PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) to advance into a tier-one supplier, potentially manufacturing major components such as A320 wings. Airbus, which has collaborated with Indonesia since 1976, reaffirmed its long-term commitment to developing Indonesia into a production and export base, supported by technology transfer, manufacturing enhancement, and workforce development. The JDI comes as Indonesia’s aviation market is projected to grow nearly fourfold by 2045, driving demand for manufacturing capacity, Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services, and skilled talent. Bappenas officials stressed the importance of strengthening domestic industrial capacity, implementing international standards, and fostering high-tech transformation. Airbus underscored Indonesia’s strategic role, with more than 220 Airbus aircraft already operating in the country, and pledged to expand cooperation across commercial aviation, defense, and support services. The partnership positions aerospace as a “game changer” for Indonesia’s economic growth, aligning with national goals to transform the economy through advanced industries and secure a stronger role in global aircraft production.Source: https://indonesiabusinesspost.com/6613/business-and-investment/indonesia-airbus-deepen-aerospace-partnership-to-boost-regional-manufacturing (ICE GIACARTA)
