India’s construction equipment industry achieved record growth in 2025-26, supported by strong domestic infrastructure development and rising global demand for Indian-made equipment. According to the Ministry of Heavy Industries, the industry recorded total sales of 1,40,191 units during 2025-26, marking a 3% increase over the previous year. Exports witnessed particularly strong momentum, rising 31.5% year-on-year (YoY) to 16,885 units, reflecting the growing global competitiveness of India’s construction equipment manufacturing sector. The industry’s growth has been driven by sustained public infrastructure investments in roads, railways, urban development, mining and energy projects, along with increasing mechanisation across the construction sector. The government highlighted that India is emerging as a significant manufacturing and export hub for construction and earthmoving equipment. The Ministry stated that policy initiatives such as the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP), and the PM Gati Shakti programme have supported capacity expansion, localisation and technology adoption within the industry. Demand for advanced and fuel-efficient equipment has also increased across sectors such as mining, highways, urban infrastructure and real estate development. Industry stakeholders noted that rising exports to markets in Africa, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Latin America are strengthening India’s position in the global construction equipment supply chain.
