LITHUANIA’S INDUSTRIAL SECTOR FACES LABOUR SHORTAGES DESPITE CONTINUED INVESTMEN T INTEREST
Lithuania’s manufacturing sector continues to attract investment and expansion plans, particularly in high-value industrial activities. German automotive electronics producer Hella Lithuania, operating in the Kaunas Free Economic Zone, has confirmed plans for further growth in the country, although at a slower pace than previously expected. The company produces automotive electronics, including radar systems, and has highlighted Lithuania’s modern industrial environment and qualified workforce as key factors behind its continued presence in the country. At the same time, manufacturers are facing increasing difficulties in recruiting and retaining workers with the necessary technical skills.According to Lithuania’s Employment Service, around one fifth of job vacancies in Kaunas and the surrounding region are currently in manufacturing, with strong demand for machine operators, technicians and skilled workers. The trend underlines both the growth potential of Lithuania’s industrial sector and the need for further investment in workforce training and automation. (ICE VARSAVIA)
