South Korean manufacturer EL B&T has announced a landmark $250 million (RO 96.2 million) investment to establish an electric vehicle and battery cell plant in Oman's Duqm Special Economic Zone (SEZAD) . The project, which will span nearly 900,000 square meters, is set to be implemented in two phases with an ambitious annual capacity of 60,000 vehicles and 1.6 million battery cells upon completion. Targeting commercial operations by March 2028 , the facility will initially serve Oman's domestic market before expanding into the wider GCC and North African regions. This venture not only aligns with Oman Vision 2040 and the Sultanate's net-zero goals but also positions Duqm as a growing regional hub for green industries, featuring a dedicated green power station to ensure sustainable production processes.
