Air Astana revenue up 13.2% in first quarter of 2026Kazakhstan’s airline Air Astana reported a 13.2% increase in first-quarter revenue to $331 million, up from $292.4 million a year earlier, according a statement published by the Astana International Exchange (AIX).EBITDAR stood at $48.2 million, down 19.6% year-on-year.Profit after tax (PAT) decreased 19.6% year-on-year to minus $21.1 million from minus $7.3 million a year earlier.“These are my first quarterly results as CEO of Air Astana and I am pleased to report that we have seen continued growth in revenue and in traffic despite the market environment and ongoing cost challenges. With a modest increase in traffic (RPK +3.0%) we have seen revenue up 13.2% for the quarter, and unit revenues (RASK) +12.4%,” CEO Ibrahim Canliel is quoted as saying.He said the company had promptly reallocated its aircraft after the Gulf conflict and continued expanding its network, including launching flights to Shanghai and increasing services to India, Central Asia and the Caucasus.In the reporting period, Air Astana carried passengers decreased 3.3% year-on-year to 1.95 million.Available seat kilometers (ASK) increased 0.7% to 4.7 billion, while revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) rose 3% to 3.9 billion. Revenue per ASK rose 12.4% to 7.01 cents, while costs per ASK increased 19.8% to 7.30 cents.In 2025, Air Astana’s revenue rose 11.4% to $1.453 billion, according to previously reported results.Air Astana, the largest airline in Kazakhstan, held an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in February 2024, raising nearly $370 million and valuing the entire company at $847 million.According to information published on Air Astana’s official website, the airline’s shareholders include Kazakhstan’s Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna with 41%, BAE Systems (Kazakhstan) Limited (6.85%), which is a subsidiary of the UK-based BAE Systems plc; Kazakhstan’s Unified Accumulative Pension Fund with 6.5%, and other investors holding the remaining shares.
