Kazakhstan’s GDP grows 3.6% in Jan-AprilKazakhstan’s economy increased by 3.6% year-on-year in January-April 2026, the Economy Ministry said.The ministry attributed the growth to continued expansion across key sectors of the economy.The strongest growth was recorded in construction, which rose 14.5%, followed by transportation and warehousing at 12%, manufacturing at 9.9%, trade at 5.1% and agriculture at 3.6%, according to a ministry statement.In the reporting period, machinery production increased 23.3% year-on-year, while output in the light industry more than doubled, rising 2.3-fold.Furniture production grew 41.7%, pharmaceutical output rose 35.2%, building materials production increased 27.7%, the chemical industry expanded 18.4% and food production was up 14.4%.Kazakhstan’s GDP grew 6.5% in 2025 and 3% in the first quarter of 2026.Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has tasked the government with ensuring sustainable economic growth of more than 5% in 2026.
