KAZAKHSTAN-OILSEEDS-ELEVATORS
Kazakhstan seeks expansion of grain storage capacity after record oilseed and legume harvestsKazakhstan is facing growing demand for segregated crop storage as production of legumes and oilseeds increases, Deputy Agriculture Minister Azat Sultanov said on Tuesday.“Thanks to the diversification of sown areas, we are seeing significant growth in legume and oilseed harvests, which creates the need for separate storage facilities for each crop,” Sultanov said during a government meeting. He said applications for preferential financing for the construction and modernization of grain elevators began being accepted in April.A roadmap has been developed setting out the main financing criteria and performance targets for the construction and modernization of grain storage facilities, Sultanov said.“If full financing is secured, we plan to expand grain storage capacity by up to 1 million metric tonnes. I ask for your support,” he said.Kazakhstan harvested a record legume crop of more than 1.1 million metric tonnes in 2025. Oilseed production also reached a record 4.8 million metric tonnes.
