INDONESIA TO AUCTION 10 NEW OIL AND GAS BLOCKS AT IPA CONVEX 2026
Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources plans to auction around 10 new oil and gas blocks at the Indonesian Petroleum Association Convention and Exhibition (IPA Convex) on May 22–23, 2026. The blocks are spread across Sulawesi, Kalimantan, Papua, and Sumatra, including areas such as Rupat, Puri, Karapan Baru, Pesut Mahakam, Bengara II, Maratua II, South Matindok, Lao-Lao, Rombebai, and Northern Papua/Jayapura. These locations had previously undergone detailed studies by the Geological Agency and Lemigas, signaling readiness for investor participation. To attract investment, the government is offering improved fiscal incentives, including a more favorable 50 percent profit split for contractors (up from 15–30 percent), flexible contract options between cost recovery and gross split schemes, and tax exemptions during exploration. Meanwhile, development of the Tuna Block in the North Natuna Sea is moving forward, with the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) preparations expected soon and production targeted for 2028–2029, following a partial stake transfer from Harbour Energy to a domestic company.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/415637/indonesia-to-auction-10-new-oil-and-gas-blocks-at-ipa-convex-2026?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
