UKRAINE: ITALIAN WINE IMPORTS CONTINUE TO GROW AS ITALY STRENGTHENS MARKET LEADERSHIP IN EARLY 2026

Italy further reinforced its dominant position in the Ukrainian wine market during the first four months of 2026, with exports to Ukraine increasing by 7.8% year-on-year to €21.98 million. Italy accounted for 43.97% of Ukraine’s total wine imports, by far the largest share among all supplying countries. The strong performance of Italian wine comes despite a slight contraction in Ukraine’s overall wine imports. Between January and April 2026, Ukraine imported €49.99 million worth of wine, representing a modest decline of 1.1% compared to the same period in 2025.France remained the second-largest supplier, with exports rising 4.22% to €8.40 million and capturing a 16.8% market share, while Spain followed with €6.26 million (+3.02%; 12.53% market share). Imports from Germany fell 11.94% to €1.92 million (3.85%), while Portugal decreased by 14.32% to €1.71 million (3.43%). Other exporters, including the United States, South Africa, Argentina, and Moldova, also recorded lower volumes.Overall, the Ukrainian wine market in early 2026 continued to demonstrate resilient demand for imported and premium European wines, with Italy further consolidating its leadership position and strengthening its presence among Ukrainian consumers.
